Big Smile Big SmileTHANK YOU, UNCLE!!

uncle yassin, sazzy_f 's halfdad was very kind. i spoke to him on friday to fix my works. then, with zero reason he gave me green light to cooperate. tomorrow (friday) i went to his condo..i thought he and her wife were there. but when i arrived, it was only their maid who served me. with her, there were several inputs..., unimaginably, he gave me more than i needed..

thank you uncle and family!

cryTHE RED KEBAYA (TRK) : I FAVOUR IT TO BE ENTITLED "THE BLUE KITE"

YahoooooOo..my company had banked me in the pay for this month. i didn't  think it is the answer to jolly around. the thing i had planned was to watch DON with abe...i stunned by the simple preview written by abg mop in BDN regarding the storyline. so, i think this movie is good so i have to watch it.

but on that day, i was dissappointed to find that DON won't be aired in any cinemas. so i needed another alternative to watch. i sounded abe to see casino royale but since he have watched it, it won't be thrilled anymore.  as we reached the gsc MV, i made a sudden decision to pick TRK ...the slow promotion didn't bother me. i've seen this movie's trailer, billboard and poster which i thought quite mesmerizing. so, i hope rm22 abe spent for 2 seats were worth it.

i'm not gonna give you the synopsis, since you can find it out from any other websites. or you might come across the comments mentioned in newspaperS..the next you will read is about my critics regarding this movie after spending one hour and 40 minutes in the cinema...i will start with the characters.

it is a movie stressing on mysterious theme. so i think it is rightful to choose the protagonist who does well in playing with facial expression. ramli hassan a producer and the hero of this movie acts excellently. his eye contact, body language speak louder than the words. i hope he (who used to play theatre) will also be consider to play more 'malaysian-type' movies like this. his involvement in theatre could be the reason the best he has given to be a loner, professional photographer in TRK.  In this movie, he's latif, a person who succeed in his life but live alone. he couldn't trace his ancestors until a mission brought him back to where he was --- bukit bendera pulau pinang...there he found what been lied beneath the surface. what was the story behind a ruin of colonial bungalow...he did travel to find the answers after finding a puzzling image of two boys with a blue kite stalking him everywhere he goes. he met an antic artisan, loong (patrick teoh) who handed in to ramli a picture frame and an old briefcase.  the frame pictured an aging bungalow which he believed had once reached there. (was it a dÉjavu?..latif tried to explore its origin..

vanidah?...she acted as a dancing girl. or  perempuan joget. the one that latif seen through his extra-sensory perception. vanidah (azizah) was a widow. she had been left behind by her deceased husband who joined communist. she resembled a true malay woman, soft-spoken and lived with a son, called adik...in this movie, azizah could speak english with a deep malay accent. she has been a victim of jealousy from her fellow joget friends..nobody in the club liked her since they were jealous she had what it takes to capture the heart of a british officer..

bob mercer? he played a colonial-period british officer named johnny. also a part of latif's e.s.p image, he had his life messed up and found his wife was taking control the household. he was struggling to suit his life in the colonized territory..he loved the green atmosphere, but his wife loved otherwise. they did not meet the similarity and it took them apart... after meeting first time with azizah one night, mercer (johnny) fell in love. it was not an unrequitted love since azizah felt the same as well. when his wife left malaya for england, he had utilized the time getting to know azizah and her son. they were high over heels in love...and as a sign of 'freedom' from the 'prison' created by his wife, he set his servants, maniam & wife free.

samantha schubert played an image of antagonist ...she's being davinia, a haughty colonial officer's wife who predominant her husband (johnny). she didn't like to be in malaya. she left the land after receiveing a telegram telling that her uncle was sick. due to her absence, her husband seemed to have released from the 'home prison'..after she discovered what was happening when she left the home, her wrath exploded. she couldn't take the facts that her husband was hooking up with a malay woman. it was kinda an insultation. she then planned a fatal plot..what is the key thrust leads to the plot? go watch it until the end, then you are going to find what the plot is?

another major role is adik, azizah's sole son ..adik is a typical-malay look boy. he is about six years old..he never had a care of a father. when her mother, azizah met johnny, he gained the attention from the british officer.... johnny treated adik his own son, since he had no children...when they chilled out, adik tend to play kite with his (non-malay) best friend..and yet the kite is particularly in blue colour.. having the affection as a father, johnny delegated his skills in photography to adik. they both took several pictures to show adik how 'magical' it is..as time passed, adik developed his enthusiasm in photography util he grew older. watch the whole story until you will find who is adik when it recapped his feature in 2006?

we were quite exited watching the excellent cinematography and the whole lot...but the thing which doesn't meet our gratification is its plot. the plot has not strenghten very well. there are a few characters which needed to be developed. it comes to an end by just pointing out the relationship between latif and loong (the antic stuffs collector)..such an easy way...  there is also a missing link in the relationship between johnny/azizah...the director should have to think how to bring this two characters forward and stressing on the painful conflict that existed.

another thing is about the red kebaya itself. i didn't mention it earlier, the red kebaya is a gift johnny gave to azizah. azizah loved it and she tried to fit the kebaya with her figure. when a tragedy went between she and johnny, the red kebaya haven't seen on her. it was discovered by latif some 50 years later. i couldn't find the significant emphasizing on the cloth. from the movie, it never took latif a fond memories. it almost plays no major role that latif feel he is in the state of dejavu..

all in all, i can see, the blue kite is rather protrudge.it is beneficial and could turn back latif's past memories. he had ever seen the kite was played by the two boys. he had found the images on his laptop screen... it leads him to be sceptical to recall this incident.. and at the end of the movie, the audience had not expected the blue kite is also kept well by the antic collector (patrick teoh)..once they see this, it could raise the question: how did the blue kite have been with the antic collector? how did he find it? i don't think nobody  will say it pays no significance.

so, for those who prefer an artistic film, you can try this one out,...

but those who love thriller, this is not a good movie for you..

ShockedTHE MERGER??

NSTP and Utusan to merge

Posted on 27 November 2006 by Mack

ADOI magazine, the trade publication for the advertising industry, reported through SMS alert that NSTP and Utusan Melayu will merge to form the largest media grouping, with a combined circulation of 800,000 daily.

Now that's a mammoth number, encapsulating a myriad of publications with very high numbers. Monsterblog managed to sneak some figures, as of June 2005, for the papers we think will be involved in this merger:

Berita Harian (Circulation 231,163 / Readership 1,506,000 )

Harian Metro ( Circulation 229,829 / Readership 1,452,000 )

Utusan Malaysia ( Circulation 228,802 / Readership 1,463,000 )

Kosmo ( Circulation 35,000 / Readership 210,000 )

That bring this media behemoth to a combined readership number exceeding 4.5 million readers. Media cross-selling and combo package pricing (together with Media Prima's broadcast stations and recent acquisition Big Tree) is now a distinct reality, and might see prices going down, but individual ad buys on separate media entities going gradually upwards. As of now, it's hard to gauge the feeling of media buyers and advertising industry players, but I reckon I would stay tuned to ADOI for that.

On another perspective, such media aggregation under one company might come under harsh criticism from many media watchers. How that happens remains to be seen. The fact remains for now that this is big news, in almost every aspect.

==========

if the rumour's true, the rivalry of these two oldest newspaper groups seems to end...it will be the doom of malaysian journalism, ..and those who take control over the country's administration are continuously bear the power to voice and stop the criticism against them..

it merciful for the side which is drowning in the sinking ship. but what if those who have long been devoted to bow to the company? i believe if the situation prolonged, it is not impossible, the freedom of expression will decrease to zero.
